HEARTBREAKER

13.09.06
paris producers guillaume atlan (the supermen lovers) and gregory louis (aloud) have recently joined forces to form new act moto signed exclusively to cyclo records. taking their influences from 70s californian funk - rock bands and icons like stretch, chicago, prince, ac/dc, they develop a style of their own, adding a touch of electro to their live instruments (guitar, bass, vocals) to deliver sexy, uplifting tracks. >heartbreaker< their first single contains that genuine positive rock n roll attitude that will make you jump off your seat while driving a convertible car on a desert highway. >who cares< on the b-side in a more spaced out way but with that added 70s funk treatment will take you to the next lost motel where you may not find anyone but a dog to talk to. motos debut ep, have been selected as part of the soundtrack of eric lavaine new screenplay >poltergay< (out october 26th in france), a comic production where gay ghosts make the life of an ordinary, newly established couple quite difficult...

theo parrish and an all-star cast featuring warren harris, marcellus pittman, bill beaver, jerrald james and mellissa botts take you on a deep excursion to the roots of afro-american music with this free-spirited live jam. after setting the mood with live percussion and a thick live bass, a bluesy guitar, cosmic keys with a sun ra vibe, wailing soul vocals, theo s instantly recognizable beat and later a bitter-sweet violin solo all join in and create an unique atmosphere that is totally mesmerizing. the >reprise< on the flip continues in a more stripped down, piano led way. two shining example of sheer musical genius

LET ME OUT

let me out is the dirty, gritty offspring of guildford based producers born tricky (jeremy duffy) and mr frisk (ryan stanford). having set up their studio only a year ago these boys have proven themselves as some of the most versatile producers in the business, having turned their hand to drum and bass, house, breakbeat and even live bands in their short production careers. they have engineered for a number of local acts too, enhancing them with their superb production skil
with his stunning releases on raum…musik and steve bug s pokerflat imprint, argy a.k.a. jobim s cousin has earned himself a position as one of today s most promising producers. on cargo edition, the boy from greece shows himself a bit more tool-like - hypnotic percussions drive forward these two excellent dancefloor tracks. comerte (a1) sounds like a bongo band playing live at the gym: this sound reminds us so perfectly of squealing basketball boots, doesn t it? hopefully, your dancefloor is not slippery, either… la revancha del bossa (b2) is a bit less forward, paving the way to daniel stefaniks remix of comerte (b1) with nice bassline action. speaking of the remix - mr. cargo edition himself keeps the crowd driving mad with three minutes of spurring synth modulation. see the people going wild when he finally drops in that redeeming bass drum

incl tantastic patrick chardronnet rmx !! (pokerflat) from the deepest depths of the rural wooded westerwald hills in germany comes the producer duo daniel girresser and michael erb, professionally known as girrèsse & erb. these two old warhorses of electronic music met at a rave in the early 90ies. fascinated by the complexity and the aesthetics of this new, non-natural and repetitive music, they decided to start their own project. they produced their first tracks in a small cellar with rather humble means. these were followed by live acts and releases under of >catch22<.

it should be no surprise to anyone that >e.c.ged< is a brilliant piece of stripped down, rolling detroit-influenced deep techno.acid undertones supply the backbone to this brooding groove, followed closely by layers of sharp percussion and instantly recognisable live analogue effects. coupled with the huge disco horn section make this subtle but dark beast in to somewhat of an epic!it would only be right for matt to get in on the action and his remix under his rekid alias is an exceptional alternative to what is already a class a-side producing a hypnotic floor-filler

avida perfectly fit in with a kind of underground music that was getting all the rage in italy in those days: nonsense music (musica demenziale). the structures were intentionally primitive, often made on cheap electronics. maurizio damis vocals , inspired on early 60s italian singers (to carry on and close the typical 20 years cycle of revivals), such as edoardo vianello, had an appealing mix of trash and humour. avida was essen tially a live band. their performances were a mix of theatre and music, where visuals played a major role. anyway, today some of that music still sounds interesting and not only due to its lyric. in our opinion about the best music alexander robotnik ever made

autosug is probably one of their best tracks ever and this deserved a special remix treatment... the original version comes with a club version plus two great remixes by heinrich mueller (dopplereffekt) and techno veteran anthony shake shakir. heinrich mueller went deeper into the machines and came up with a hi-tech electro piece which blows our minds! shake came up with a great classic remix reminiscent to his works on frictional records. future classic
